    The World Water Council is supporting the member-led initiative “Water Accounting for Agriculture”

    As part of the activities inscribed in the WWC member-led initiative “Water Accounting for Agriculture”, FAO has initiated a process of expert consultations to gather evidences on why and how “water accounting” can help decision making and planning, to manage water scarcity at sectoral level. Experts and stakeholders interested by water accounting were solicited to share their feedback through an online survey, from 9 June to 21 July 2017.
     

    World Water Council mobilizes Local and Regional Authorities at the XIIth Metropolis World Congress

    The World Water Council, together with UCLG and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil, participated in the XIIth Metropolis World Congress from the 19 to the 22 of June 2017. It was the occasion for the organizers of the 8th World Water Forum’s Political Process to consult with local and regional authorities and raise the political debate around local water-related challenges.

    The XVIth World Water Congress launches its Cancun Declaration

    “The challenges we face for shared development and prosperity are about efficient use of resources, investment for the future and innovations especially through multi-purpose infrastructure, as it pertains to all sectors,” stated President Benedito Braga in his opening remarks during the opening ceremony of IWRA’s World Water Congress held 29 May to 2 June 2017 in Cancun, Mexico. “This is the role of science and research in guiding policy-makers and addressing the needs of our communities.”

    World Water Council mobilising knowledge and policies at the XVI IWRA World Water Congress in Cancun

    Next 29 May to 02 June 2017, in Cancun, the XVI IWRA World Water Congress will be an opportunity for the World Water Council to put forward its advancements on crucial initiatives. Among others, the initiatives "Water and Climate Change", "Integrated Water Resources Management" and "Financing Water Infrastructure, will be a part of the Congress. The preparation of the 8th World Water Forum will also be a key activity, as an ISC meeting as well as several Forum related sessions will take place to continue the Forum’s successful preparation. 

    Implementation Roadmaps: third report released

    Marseille, 12 April 2017 - The World Water Council, in collaboration with Korea Water Forum and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of the Republic of Korea have just released the third edition of the Progress Report on Implementation Roadmaps, exactly two years since the 7th World Water Forum took place in April 2015. The report will provide valuable input for discussions to be held during the 8th World Water Forum’s Second Stakeholder Meeting where hundreds of participants are expected to gather from 26-27 April 2017 to help shape the next Forum’s program.
