    High Level Political Forum reviews progress on SDG 6

    Senegal and World Water Council sign agreement for 9th World Water Forum

    The 9th edition of the World Water Forum, the world’s biggest event on water, will be held for the first time in sub-Saharan Africa. The 9th World Water Forum, co-organized by the World Water Council and the Government of Senegal, will take place in the metropolitan area of Dakar during the third week of March 2021, celebrated under the over-arching theme of “Water Security for Peace and Development.” The event will mobilize world leaders, practitioners and civil society to address access to water and sanitation and related issues in an integrated manner.

    Aral Sea and Central Asia: The need for innovative approaches and strengthened cooperation.

    This week, President Braga attended two major events in Uzbekistan. Firstly, the Central Asian International Environmental Forum on “Strengthening the Cooperation in the field of Environmental and Sustainable Development in Central Asia” which was organised by the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia. During this Forum, President Braga presented a Welcome Speech which reflected the importance of cooperation as a linchpin to sustainable development. 

    The World Water Council Congratulates Hometown Marseille and IUCN Partnership for Playing Central Role in Environment’s Future Ahead of 2020 Conference

    The World Water Council and its Honorary President, Loïc Fauchon, welcome the agreement signed by the French Ministry for the Ecological and Inclusive Transition and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) last month. The agreement designates the municipality of Marseille, a founding member of the World Water Council, as the host of the IUCN World Conservation Congress in 2020.
