WEC and WWC join forces to encourage public policy to address the “water-energy nexus”

    At the 6th World Water Forum held this week in Marseille, France, Pierre Gadonneix, Chairman of the World Energy Council (WEC), and Loïc Fauchon, Chairman of the World Water Council, announced their commitment to cooperate in the long-term to promote greater energy efficiency in the management of water, recognise and improve energy usage in the water sector, and facilitate cross-sector dialogue.     Positive outcomes for the 6th World Water Forum

    The 6th World Water Forum has ended Saturday 17th after a fruitful week of exchanges between main water stakeholders. The objectives have been met: 35 000 participants, 173 countries represented, over 750 elected officials, 3 500 NGO and civil society representatives participated to over 400 sessions including thematic, political, regional and grassroots debates. “The time for solutions” was the theme.

    Rio+20: Loïc Fauchon appeals to Heads of State and Government to commit to water

    20 June 2012 - President Loïc Fauchon presented today at the Rio+20 High Level Round Table three recommendations on water concerning the implementation of the Right to Water and Sanitation, the planning and integrated management of water, energy and land use, and securing water resources to preserve biodiversity and ecosystems. The recommendations were adopted during the Sustainable Development Dialogues which took place in Rio 16 to 19 June prior to the Earth Summit, and for which Mr Fauchon was the rapporteur on water.

    Welcome the World Water Forum to your country in 2018

    Initial expressions of interest requested by 20 October 2012 The World Water Council is currently seeking expressions of interest from National Governments willing to host and organise the World Water Forum in March 2018. Preliminary expressions of interest should be received by the World Water Council Secretariat by 20 October 2012. The Council aims to promote awareness of critical water issues at all levels, building political commitment and triggering action.

    Water and Green Growth in Stockholm

    The Korean Government and the World Water Council jointly organised a side event on Monday, 27 August during the World Water Week in Stockholm. It was an occasion to update a room full of participants on the evolution of the Water and Green Growth programme that has been operating between the two parties since 2010 and to evoke the future development of this paradigm.
